In The Card Counter, the schism between processing trauma and self-forgiveness comes to a head. To Bill, this living prison he has set up for himself is akin to a religion. But salvation cannot be achieved without true consciousness – simply having suffered great punishment is not enough.

For the first time in ages, Jenna found there was just so many movies to like from 2021 that she had to actively find reasons to not include some of her favorites of the year. Long live 2021! (Well, for movies only, it was kinda shitty otherwise.)

Alex Garland's Annihilation is engaging and creepy, yet a little more on the horror-concept side than truly enlightening sci-fi to me. TL;DR I came for Stalker but I got reverse Solaris.
