The Last Days of DVDisco (Feat. Bart D'Alauro of Bart & Greg's DVD Explosion)
Carlo, Dan and Jenna sit down with Bart D'Alauro of Cinema60 to talk about his previous life as the owner of a particularly fantastic DVD rental store in Brunswick, Maine. Bart & Greg's DVD Explosion was a staple of its cinema-going community for over fifteen years when it finally succumbed to the evil, convenient powers of Netflix.
In this episode of Notes From the Back Row, the gang talks to Bart about the experience of owning a rental store – from the glory of buying everything you've ever wanted to see to the highs and lows of having to deal with people – as well as the benefits to owning physical media, the shortcomings of this age of streaming, and the future of home viewing options to come.
A new episode of Notes From the Back Row will be released every other week. If you have a new movie premiering, drop us a line – we might be interested in setting something up with you too!
